Najee: Najee’s Theme
January 2026 Album Review
"Najee’s Theme" represents Najee at his finest, showcasing his incredible talent as both a saxophonist and flautist. Accompanied by angelic vocal arrangements, he is truly in his element throughout this album.
For me, these songs are deeply nostalgic, recalling childhood rides in Southern California listening to 94.7 The Wave. The album perfectly captures the smooth jazz blend of jazz, R&B, and pop. From the onset, "For the Love of You" delivers that classic sound, while the title track, "Najee’s Theme," is both playful and moving.
Other highlights include:
- "Can’t Hide Love": A high-quality gem that starts with a strong beat before settling into a smooth groove.
- "We’re Still Family": Features a familiar swing and "red hot" playing, with lyrics that remain as impactful today as ever.
- "Sweet Love": A timeless, elegant jewel from my youth.
- "Betcha Don’t Know": Driven by a thick bassline and poignant lyrics.
- "What You Do to Me": An emotionally charged, well-constructed piece that builds beautifully.
- "Mysterious": A track that captures a unique 80s vibe—reminiscent of Berry Gordy’s The Last Dragon—yet still feels fresh.
Overall, if you are looking for a classic album, I highly recommend "Najee’s Theme" or any of Najee’s other works. Kudos to Mr. Najee for this exceptional collection.
Best regards,

Boney James: Sweet Thing March 2026 Album Review
I wanted to share some thoughts on this album, which truly captures the essence of my early twenties. Listening to it again brings back so many fond memories of delving into music and riding in the family Toyota Camry.
"Sweet Thing" remains a timeless, vibrant gem, while "Nothin' But Love" stands out with its deep, groovy bassline and Boney James’s expert saxophone work. "East Bay" and "Innocence" both carry a classic, tender vibe that sparks immediate nostalgia for me.
The album offers a great variety of moods, from the chill, relaxing atmosphere of "It’s All Good" to the colorful, tropical "Ivory Coast." "Words Unspoken" is another favorite from my youth, and "I Still Dream" with Al Jarreau is simply otherworldly—the lyrics truly make you believe in a love that lasts forever. I also enjoyed "After the Rain" for its passionate, festive energy, and the bonus remix of "It's All Good" with Eric Benet provides a wonderful modern twist where both artists' signature sounds complement each other perfectly.
Overall, this is a solid album. Kudos to Mr. James and all the contributing artists for creating such a lasting piece of work.
Best regards,
Rashad Rahman
